Domaine du Rodier
Jan+annelies intimate wedding
in the south of france

A wedding shaped around simplicity and intention
Jan and Annelies were looking for a wedding that felt easy and unforced. Something intimate, focused on being together rather than staging moments. They wanted a place where everyone could stay close, share time over several days, and let the celebration unfold naturally. When they discovered Domaine du Rodier, it immediately made sense.
Set in the countryside between Toulouse and Dordogne, the domain offered exactly what they were searching for: space to breathe, soft natural light, and a calm atmosphere where nothing felt overdone. It wasn’t about transforming the place — it was about letting it support the day they had in mind.

A refined aesthetic, between documentary and quiet elegance
From the first moments of Jan and Annelies’s day, it was clear that nothing was meant to be over-staged or artificial. They had chosen a relaxed, organic, timeless vibe, and that informed everything around them — from the pastel tones in the décor to how they wanted to live each minute of their wedding. As a photographer in the South of France, I spend my time not directing moments, but noticing them: where light lingers on a texture, how laughter breaks out without prompting, the way a look or a gesture says more than a posed portrait ever could. Shot partly on 35mm film, the process slows down with the day rather than against it — letting grain, tone, and light do their work, so images feel lived-in rather than manufactured.
Working with Sun Day Wedding, wedding planner in Bordeaux, was part of that same logic. The planning came together in a way that left room for people to just be present, which made the day more generous with real, unforced moments. That same openness is what I look for when I frame a moment — anticipating it just enough to be ready, but never at the expense of what’s actually happening.
This way of seeing links naturally to other weddings in the region — like at Château d’Essendiéras — where space, light, and atmosphere shape not only what you remember, but how the images last.

The Details
This wedding at Domaine du Rodier reflects what Jan and Annelies were looking for from the start: an intimate celebration, a natural rhythm, and space for real moments to unfold. Thoughtfully planned with Sun Day Wedding, the day focused on people, light, and atmosphere rather than performance. This balance of simplicity and intention is what led the wedding to be featured in Together Journal.
